The Great Common Task is the creation of a new Universe, with new laws and physics, where all those who died can live again. It is the goal of the Sobornost to achieve the Great Common Task.
Possibly, Matjek Chen created the Great Common Task to bring back his father from the death he witnessed or remove the possibility of experiencing a similar death.
